The Desert Rain House is part of the uniquely green compound that Tom Elliott and Barbara Scott have created on the westside of Bend, Oregon. This incredibly green home is striving to meet the Living Building Challenge – the most stringent green building certification existing today. This net zero energy, net zero water home features reclaimed and recycled materials, has solar power, rain water catchment, and grey and black water treatment. With incredible care given to everything from the materials used to the techniques implored, this 2 bedroom, 2 bath home sits next to a 1 bed, 1 bath guest house, 2 detached garaged, and a second structure, Desert Lookout, that functions as a home office, and 1 bed, 1 bath guest space. Most importantly, this second guest house also houses the onsite water treatment.
