This home’s modern architecture, designed bu Olin Architecture, surrounds a courtyard with westerly views of the forested mountains. The interiors were designed by Legum Design, to incorporate the owner’s varied backgrounds, melding together elements of Brazilian Modern and Traditional English design to create a unique living space that exudes warmth and style. We incorporated warm walnut, cool concrete, bold florals and elegant natural stones to create a rich, sensuous feel. The main living area is open concept with clerestory windows permitting abundant light to fill the space. A dramatic leathered quartzite was used in the kitchen and a custom-designed Thassos mosaic complements the slabs and creates a subtle shimmer effect as it captures the light. The fireplace was designed with charred cedar wood creating a strong pillar in the space. To balance the expansive fireplace an oversized black duct pipe was incorporated for the range hood vent. This also allowed us to soften the angular features of the room with its curved shape. Tubular glass pendants continue the theme of playing with the light. The library features floor-to-ceiling cabinetry with aubergine painted walls and rich velvet drapery. Luxurious materials flow through the home with bright pops of color to complement the client’s artwork, nature, and heritage.
