20 Apr The Ideal View
We recently erected poles on the future Desert Rain homesite to mock window openings and roof overhangs. Wanting to capture the very best views this amazing lot has to offer, we used lumber (that will be used later to construct the home) to create an outline of the structure as it has been designed. The homeowners and key members of the design team, Al Tozer – Architect, ML Vidas – Living Building Consultant, Chris Hart-Henderson – Landscape Architect, and our own James Fagan – General Contractor, were able to move through the mocked spaces and identify subtle changes to be made to the design.
This process can be especially helpful to the design process and for many homeowners it becomes the first truly concrete understanding of the layout of the home. Though it may feel unnecessary or time consuming, identifying and making revisions to the design is much easier at this phase of the process than changing the structure after construction has begun.
